What Is the Lotto 5 Max Number Generator?

How to Play Lotto 5 Max
Lotto 5 Max uses the same format as the main Lotto draw: you choose six numbers from a pool of 1 to 52. Lotto 5 Max is not a standalone game, and it comes with a specific entry requirement under the current rules: you can only add Lotto 5 Max to your ticket if you’re already playing Lotto Plus 1. In other words, Lotto 5 Max sits as a third tier on top of your main Lotto board and Lotto Plus 1, using the same six numbers across all three draws.
Step 1: Select six unique numbers between 1 and 52.
Step 2: Add Lotto Plus 1 to your main Lotto board first, since it’s required before you can add Lotto 5 Max.
Step 3: Add Lotto 5 Max for a further R2.50 per board.
Step 4: Wait for the draw to see if your numbers, plus the bonus ball, match any of the three linked games.
Lotto 5 Max costs R2.50 per board, the same as Lotto Plus 1, on top of your main Lotto entry and Lotto Plus 1 add-on. A separate set of six numbers plus a bonus ball is drawn for Lotto 5 Max, giving you a third independent chance to win using the same numbers.

Lotto 5 Max draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 21:00 SAST, alongside the main Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 draws.
How This Generator Works
The generator uses a random number function to select six unique values from the 1 to 52 pool for your main numbers, then separately selects one bonus ball from the remaining pool. Each number has an equal chance of being selected, and the six main numbers can never repeat within a single generated set, just as they can’t on an official ticket.
Odds of Winning Lotto 5 Max
Since Lotto 5 Max shares the same 6 out of 52 format as the main Lotto draw, the odds are identical to Lotto and Lotto Plus 1.

Lower prize divisions require matching three, four, or five of the six numbers, and carry significantly better odds than the jackpot tier.
The Jackpot Cascade Feature
Lotto 5 Max introduced a Jackpot Cascade feature under the new Sizekhaya rules. If nobody matches all six numbers in the final draw of a calendar month, the jackpot money is shared out among lower-tier winners, typically Division 2 or Division 3, instead of rolling over indefinitely. This means Lotto 5 Max guarantees a payout at least once a month, even when no single ticket matches every number.
A Note on Number Selection Strategies
Every Lotto 5 Max draw is an independent, random event, separate from the main Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 draws held using the same numbers you chose. Numbers that have come up frequently in past draws are not more likely to be drawn again, and numbers that haven’t appeared recently aren’t “due” for a win. Each of the 20,358,520 possible combinations carries exactly the same probability of being drawn. Using a generator won’t shorten your odds compared to picking numbers manually, but it does avoid the bias many players show toward birthdates and other meaningful numbers, which cluster combinations in the 1 to 31 range and can lead to a bigger split if you do win.
